classic Rhode Island candle stand from the Late 18th century. The one board Round top has a nice cut edge. It has a very FINE TURNED BARREL AND PILLAR shaft with deep, elaborate turning. Classic HAND CARVED cabriole legs are dovetailed into the shaft and end in bold Queen Anne style feet.
The entire stand is made of EXTREMELY FINE AND DENSE MAHOGANY WITH A NATIVE CHESTNUT CLEAT.
THE SURFACE IS THE BEST OLD AND GRUNGY ORIGINAL DARK STAIN WITH DEEP, DEEP PATINA. IT STILL RETAINS A LARGE PORTION OF ITS ORIGINAL VARNISH AS WELL.
THIS IS A FANTASTIC STAND IN THE MOST DENSE MAHOGANY AND THE ABSOLUTE BEST ORIGINAL SURFACE
THE CONDITION IS NEARLY PERFECT. IT IS COMPLETELY ORIGINAL. THE ONLY LOSS IS ONE OLD EARLY SHRINKAGE LINE IN THE TOP AND A 1/2" BY 2" EARLY PATCH.
27" tall, the top is about A SINGLE BOARD 18 1/2"across with nice shrinkage.
