This butterfly was first shown in a Cambridge catalog published after 1934 but before 1940. It was one of nine novelty figures Cambridge produced. The 1940 catalog shows this butterfly again but by the start of World War II, the novelty figures were discontinued. This clear and frosted butterfly is listed as No. 3 in the catalog. It has its original label. It measures about 2.75 inches from wingtip to wingtip, and it is about 2 inches long. These Cambridge butterflies are little known among collectors and rarely seen. My information comes directly from the National Cambridge Collectors organization.
