Danish Modern Teak Entry Chest Table Mini Credenza Vintage Mid Century

About a month ago we had a Poul Volther mini credenza on that we sold. This design is along the same lines as the Volther piece, so if you missed out before and like the design, do not miss out on this one.

Wonderful warm teak wood and teak wood veneer over wood and solid teak inset base / legs. The piece is well made and very functional for its compact size.

Features a single wide top drawer and two sliding door panels that move to reveal an open spacious interior compartment. Great compact size to fit just about anywhere in your modern home (Entryway, Hall, Dining, Bedroom, as a Bar etc.)

Leg base can be removed for shipping, though may not be needed.

measurements

Overall 27 3/4” wide by 26” high (rear side top edge) by 13 7/8” deep. The drawer interior is 24 1/2” by 11 1/8” with a vertical depth of about 2 3/4”. The useable space in the lower interior is just under 26 1/8” wide by just under 11 5/8” deep by 10 1/2” high.

condition

In overall great condition. A couple little very fine nicks on the back side edges and there is one little worn through area along the tops rear side edge (see close ups). None of this is a big deal at all and has zero affect on the overall beauty of the piece.

ANTIQUE JAPANESE DOUBLE DOOR TANSU DOCUMENT CHEST SOLID CRYPTOMERIA WOOD

Known as a chobadansu, this chest was made and used about 90 years ago in the late Taisho period (c. 1925). The chobadansu, or document chest with drawers and doors, was used to store an individual's or shop's accounts, documents, and valuables.
This small tansu chest is made of solid sugi (cryptomeria). The handles are made of hand forged iron that dates back nearly a century, and the latching door pull includes a raised family crest in the form of a bellflower on its face (see picture 2).
All drawers as well as doors move easily without binding. This chest has a 90+ year old warm aged patina and remains in very fine condition and should serve one well for another century of use. It measures 17 1/4" wide by 14 1/2" high by 14 1/2" deep (44 x 37 x 37 cm). A great piece of Japanese history and a very interesting and functional piece of furniture.

L42 ANTIQUE AMERICAN PAINTED WINDSOR SACK BACK CHAIR

beautiful Antique Painted Windsor Sack Back Chair with continuous arm. Oval saddle seat, shaped swell stretchers. In good condition, old split to seat. Some wear to green paint, still shows well. Late 19th, early 20th century. The name sack-back refers to a sack-like covering that is said to have been pulled over the backs of these chairs with the purpose of warding off winter drafts. Sack-backs almost always had an oval seat. Sometimes shield or D shaped seats were used, but these would be custom-made chairs. Basic production models would have seven long spindles and four short ones, fancier ones might have nine long and six short. A Windsor chair is a chair built with a solid wooden seat into which the chair-back and legs are round-tenoned, or pushed into drilled holes, in contrast to standard chairs, where the back legs and the uprights of the back are continuous. The seats of Windsor chairs were often carved into a shallow dish or saddle shape for comfort. Traditionally, the legs and uprights were usually turned on a pole lathe. The back and sometimes the arm pieces (if arms are present) are formed from steam bent pieces of wood.

19th C Antique Black Forest Salesman Sample Furniture Doll Child's Buffet NR yqz

If you follow us at all, you know we love Salesman Samples and are always looking out for exceptional pieces. Up in this auction is one of those finds. A stunning piece and very unique in design. You just don't find a lot of miniature Black Forest pieces. This is an amazing buffet, the main body being a mere 12" tall and 16" across, 7" deep. The top shelves are approx. 12 1/2" tall, so with the shelves on the bottom it is a total of approx. 24" tall. It has a single drawer, dove tailed in the front, two doors that open up to reveal two shelves. The top shelf piece has four iron pegs that slide into the base. We do see two pieces of restoration on the top shelves and a couple of rubs, but none of that takes away from this exceptional miniature. We are estimating this to be late 1800's to early 1900's.

SUPERB ORIGINAL 1930s ART DECO CARVED WOOD GILDED SUNBURST MIRROR

superb ART DECO carved wood gilded SUNBURST MIRROR A good size, measuring 24" wide and 16" tall ; the mirrored glass itself is 5" diameter.
It originally housed a clock and has been converted to a mirror, and dates from the 1930s Art Deco period; probably French, as the original clock had a French movement. The bonded-in replacement flat mirrored glass is new.
The whole surround and mirror housing is made from wood and each sunburst section has been individually carved. It displays superbly and is far removed from the later composition type mirrors, giving a very dramatic and intense Sunburst effect. Has excellent toned gilding as well ~ not too bright or modern looking, so that it looks really sympathetic in a Period setting.
The condition is all excellent and original for it's age. There is no damage to any of the wooden rays and difficult to spot any imperfections, but this is NOT a new repro, so obviously not as perfect as new ~ but this is part of the charm and essence of owning an original. Please refer to the detailed photographs before bidding.
These original carved wood framed Sunburst mirrors are now very difficult to find, and this is a really stunning example that when hung makes a truly beautiful accompaniment to any room.

Vintage Library Card Catalog Bureau

Remington Rand Library Bureau Division Card Catalog Bureau

7 pieces total = 3 (15 drawer) cabinets, 2 middle sections with slide out shelves, 1 top and 1 stand

This card catalog bureau was acquired from a local library and is in really nice condition for it's time period. It has not been restored or any other attempt to refinish it since I obtained it from the library, it has just been wiped down after being in covered storage. The top has some finish discoloration/fading (maybe water from a plant on top right corner?) and a few minor scratches. The rest of the pieces look really nice and have typical public use wear (see all photos). The 45 drawers all slide smoothly, they are all wood with brass hardware w/label spaces, dovetailed joints and the metal sliding card adjusters (2 different colors) all work fine. The drawers do not have the knobs/rods that go through the card centers and 2 of drawer faces have minor splits. Each middle section has 2 slide out shelves for drawer placement or writing and look/function great. The stand is strong, stable and easily supports the entire unit. You can configure/stack these pieces to your liking, they align and fit together nicely.
